For more than five decades, Larry Sparks has been one of the most celebrated voices in bluegrass music. Known as the “King of Bluegrass Soul,” his unmistakable vocals, timeless guitar playing, and heartfelt songs have shaped generations of musicians. After launching his career with the legendary Stanley Brothers, Sparks went on to build one of the most influential careers in bluegrass history, earning multiple IBMA awards, a place in the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, and the admiration of artists ranging from Ricky Skaggs and Del McCoury to Alison Krauss, Dan Tyminski, Billy Strings, and countless others who continue to draw inspiration from his music today.
This special evening is hosted by Franklin’s own Tennessee WoodPile, whose deep appreciation for traditional bluegrass—and artists like Larry Sparks—has helped them become local ambassadors for bluegrass throughout Williamson County and Middle Tennessee.
