The Franklin Theatre Songwriters Series: Elvie Shane hosts Nashville Basement Stage Songwriters with La Vie Quartet

Experience an unforgettable night of original music featuring Elvie Shane and songwriters from Nashville Basement Stage, joined by the stunning La Vie Quartet.  The artists performing this month are accomplished singer/songwriters who gained patron attention and were selected as NBS artist members.  La Vie Quartet, Nashville’s premier touring and performing string quartet, will accompany the NBS artists, adding an intimate dimension to the evening specifically designed for the Franklin Theatre.  As with any Nashville Basement Stage show, a few surprises await the attendees.

Popular Nashville and Kentucky singer/songwriter, Elvie Shane, hosts the evening and kicks off the performances.  As with any Nashville Basement Stage show, a few surprises await the attendees.

    Elvie Shane

Elvie Shane rose to the top of the country music charts with his song “My Boy” and deployed experimental angst on his record Damascus.  But on this latest compilation, Kentucky singer Elvie Shane finds himself slowing down and returning to his roots.

On With the Wind, the self-proclaimed “half-alachian”, wields his gritty country howl with unprecedented precision.  He sings about everything form loathing adulthood (“Grown Up”) to conversing with objects in the sky about rediscovering his north star (“Mr. Moon”), the dissolution of the American Dream (“Working Hard”), his shifting perception of home (“This Place”) and relaxing country drives (“Windows Down”).

“On [the last record] I was [mad] at the world and yelling through the mic.  But on this new record I’m singing about hard work and things in relationships and life that are much more universal feelings.  I’m not a young punk anymore – I just want to sing good melodies, enjoy myself and evoke emotion from people with my music”.

Elvie was the first artist invited to perform at Nashville Basement Stage several years ago – literally in their basement.  He comes full circle to host the NBS songwriters with the amazing La Vie Quartet.

    La Vie Quartet

La Vie Quartet is a Nashville-based, premier conservatory-trained touring and performing string quartet known for its classical-contemporary crossover style.   They have toured with Steven Curtis Chapman and shared the stage with Tenille Townes, Tom Douglas, Delta Rae, JOHNNYSWIM and others.

A string quartet that is redefining classical music in the ever-famous Nashville music scene, La Vie Quartet is making it their mission to “share the beauty and importance of the string quartet classics in the conversation of music.” Known for their popular covers of artists ranging from the classics of Elvis and Etta James, to the mainstream artists of today like Drake, Bruno Mars, and Ariana Grande, La Vie Quartet is reinventing the idea of classical music with their modern arrangements of today’s hit songs.

Gideon Klein is a popular session artist and charts arrangements for singer songwriters.  He and the quartet will be accompanying Elvie Shane and the NBS songwriters for an evening you will not soon forget.

FTSS this month is in partnership with Nashville Basement Stage.  Nashville Basement Stage is a patron-funded organization providing support to independent artists in the Nashville area. NBS formed in 2016 as a house concert venue, assisting artists through the pandemic and the tornadoes that shut down music venues.  In 2024, NBS expanded into Nashville’s finest listening venues.  In addition to over 190 patrons and several industry partners, NBS has a roster of artists and artist advisors, selected by the founders and VIP patrons.  Their mission is to ‘find the others‘ – patrons willing to provide meaningful support to independent artists to keep the music alive.

Several NBS artists will be performing this evening, including a few surprises.
